Rules & regulations

The event is total catch and release event for Murray Cod and Golden Perch.

  • All species caught must comply with fishing regulations as required by NSW authorities.

  • Fish must be caught on either fishing rods or hand lines.

  • The minimum legal size for Murray Cod in 55cm.

  • The minimum size being recorded for any Golden Perch caught is 30cm.

  • Best fish handling procedures must be adhered to.

  • Participants must be aware that you can use no more than two rods with two hooks in non-tidal inland rivers.

  • Fishing must take place in the Edward (Kolety) River only between Fourpost Reserve and Stevens Weir.

  • Saturday Fishing Competition Times - Fishing must take place between 6.30am and 5pm only. 

  • Sunday Fishing Competition Times - Fishing must take place between 6.30am and 10.30am only.

  • Entrants must comply with NSW Waterways boating regulations and other relevant legislation.

  • It is the responsibility of participants to be fully aware of regulations covering appropriate boat licenses and safety equipment for NSW waters.

  • The committee reserves the right to inspect any equipment or bait used by participants.

  • All regulations as outlined above must be adhered to. Breaches of these regulations will result in disqualification of the offending angler.

  • Any boat found containing illegal equipment or bait will result in disqualification of all participants in the boat.

  • Participants may only have fish measured that have been angled by themselves. Transferring of fish to other participants is not allowed.

  • Any participant found to be in breach of any of the above rules or regulations will be removed from the event.

  • Any angler proven to be fishing outside the nominated fishing times of the competition will be disqualified from the entire competition.

 

The organisers may at any time before the commencement, or during the Edward Kolety Fishing Challenge may refuse to accept and/or reject any entry without assigning a reason thereof and without in any way whatsoever for doing so.

Competitors signature on entry form or full payment of entry fee indicates that they understand all rules and regulations of which the Edward Kolety Fishing Challenge is run by and will abide by them at all times.

 

Liability Exclusions and indemnity

The Edward Kolety Fishing Challenge is a non-profit, volunteer organised event with proceeds going to community-based organisations or groups.

Each entrant in this fishing challenge acknowledges and accepts the event may carry the possibility of accident or injury to the person or property. That risk is hereby accepted and further the entrant herby indemnifies the Edward Kolety Fishing Challenge, it is volunteers, officials, and sponsors against any claims for medical expenses, loss or damage costs or interest arising out of the event.
